“Thoughts on the Royal Wedding” by Guest Blogger Conn D. Cension

If you watched and enjoyed the Royal Wedding this morning, you are a frivolous idiot who clearly has nothing better to do with her time.  Watching a person walk around and parade in a long dress is not important, and the marriage of two people whom you don’t know, and never will know, is not relevant to anyone’s lives.  Shame on you for getting emotionally invested in, or getting entertained by, a spectacle that will have no effect on anyone in the long run.

Now quiet, the Yankees game is on.

  1. I was at a friend’s house where everyone was watching it. I looked for about five seconds, but it made me feel literally nauseous, so I stared at the wall from then on.

The whole phenomenon reminded me of the soccer world cup last year: everyone around me was just going demented over something I could not give less of a shit about. Except this time it was even worse, because I am a staunch republican (in the UK sense, not the US sense). I have moral problems with professional sport (the vast sums of money involved, the exclusion of women from the sporting A-list, the hooliganism), but so many more moral problems with a taxpayer-funded monarchy…

    • I think it’s totally legitimate to be disgusted with the royal wedding for those reasons. This post was in response to the smug people on Facebook who look down on those who enjoy the ceremony because it’s all girly and shit, and totally NOT important…not like baseball, because guy stuff IS important.
